San Miniato

As you arrive you see a hill with a tower that dominates: that is San Miniato. Walking through its streets led you to the discovery of several structures. San Miniato history is fascinating: probably developed around a church of the VIII century dedicated to the florentine martyr San Miniato, the village was the seat of imperial vicars including Boniface, marquis of Tuscany, the father of the Countess Matilde who was born here in 1046. In this place we find monuments as the Palace of the vicars of theEmperor of the XII century (maybe here was born Countess matilde), the cathedral and the Sanctuary of the Crucifix of the XVIII century containing a revered wooden Crucifix of the X cent.

In San Miniato we find prestigious cultural institutions, and don’t forget the famous white truffle market !
