San Gimignano

At a distance a set of towers on a hill appears:  that is San Gimignano. It had a great development in Middle Ages thanks to the Via Francigena wich crossed the village.
Today, walking in San Gimignano is like living again in Middle Ages.
The classic itinerary includes Piazza della Cisterna surrounded by medieval towers, the Cathedral with its frescoes by the Senese school, the church of St. Augustine and, of course, strolling about the streets  of the medieval village. To reach as far as the Fortress of Montestaffoli means enjoying a relaxing view of Toscan hills.
In the same day  we can visit the near Volterra or Siena.
